And COMING SOON to a gym near you:

RUNNING!

“God loves a cheerful giver…You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way,
which through us will produce thanksgiving to God” (2 Corinthians 9:7, 11)

Dear PCA Families,

The new gymnatorium will be completed soon, with FIBA and FIVB courts, and with an elevated indoor track for running and walking!

Speaking of running and walking, for families new and returning, Walk-a-Thon is here!

Next week, students will be taking turns walking laps around the school to raise funds, especially for Raise the Roof and also for IT upgrades!

It’s Thanksgiving! Please Give Cheerfully!
This week and over Thanksgiving students and families will be raising funds, especially toward our $7 Million Raise the Roof and for IT upgrades!

Sponsorships are important as we share the vision and mission of our wonderful school with others we love and care for, even those whom we want to come and join us here at PCA!

Please Give Generously and Significantly!

This project involved over 2 years of planning, and 17 months of vital construction through the pandemic! Since this project has always been for our kids and our community to the glory of God, the project needs your generosity!

When it comes to PCA families, the direct beneficiaries of the project, while we do not want you to compromise tithe to your local church, we are appealing to you to give a significant one-time offering!

“God loves a cheerful giver [and] you will be enriched in every way to be generous, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God”! (2 Cor. 9:11)

Thank you for giving to our kids and community to His glory!

A not-so-minor setback…  Yet, grace abounds! The LORD IS SOVEREIGN AND GOOD!

Water damage to part of the flooring is being resolved speedily by the Gym-Con team. We covet your prayers.

Our Junior School gym is also getting a “floor lift”, now having maplewood flooring:   Let there be lights…FIBA lights!

Flooring Progress – Stage, Maple Gym Floors, Tiling in Kitchenette, Gym Offices, and Classrooms:

The small gym is getting a makeover as well! Ready for the hardwood flooring.

In the meantime, the senior school hallway is getting ready for tiling.

Putting up walls for our Resource Teacher:

Go Eagles Go!

The new classrooms are almost ready!

It’s been a very eventful and productive week of finishings after 15 months of behind-the-scenes structural and infrastructural preparations. The “muscle and skin” are being laid upon “good bones” beneath (foundation and flooring), above (roof structure, wiring, and HVAC) and within the new walls (columns, wiring).

Here are the photos of gym Floor Self-Levelling concrete underlayment

Almost all six (6) basketball standards have been installed!

The entire circumference of our 100m running track will be illuminated by a series of above track LED lighting fixtures.

The scoreboard is up!

Below is a 360 video of the ceiling. Over the last two days, the Soundbox technicians have installed 12 ceiling joist-mounted speakers for performances, which will be tied-in to the A/V perch control system, and they have been preparing the rigging above the stage for lights and sound.

All basketball standards were up as of last night!

The pre-fabricated concrete panel walls are being craned back into position where our three (3) new classrooms are being completed!
Wow, things are bottom to top, looking up, literally and figuratively!
In the ground, the gymnatorium floor is undergoing grinding to level in preparation for maple floor installation.
Simultaneously, up top, the beautiful PCA Blue basketball standard support system is being installed, along with the divider curtain.
Go, Eagles, Go!

Finishing the stage with cement!

We are showing you a little secrete time capsule here!

It is conveniently situated off of the North Stageside Hallway directly adjacent to the new PE Offices.
The leadership team will work together with students and stakeholders alike to place select items to open one day during a milestone anniversary celebration event!

Here are some photo updates:3 photos looking down from the running track, photos of the under-stage storage compartments, one with the metal sheeting in place, which will hold the concrete.  Then there are pictures of the future kitchenette, the gym storage area, and the west change room.

The interior is starting to take shape including the A/V room.

This is a pic of the running track with corrugated steel deck with rebar laid before the concrete base gets poured. Very soon we will be able to run on this track!

There is a wide-angle under-deck view of the running track after all the corrugated steel deck was laid on April 7, 2022.
There is also a picture of the frame of the future gym offices and stairwell to the running track on the same day.

Here are a few videos of the running track from above, benneath, and around.

These photos show the west side vertical and horizontal supports for the running track. You can also see the south side vertical steel supports hanging from the joists.

During March Break, after 10 months of work, the last of the structural steel was installed, namely the elevated running track.  See this 360-degree video taken from the future centre-court of the gymnatorium reveals what looks like a “train track” that runs along the inner perimeter of the entire gym.

Here you see the running track steel, the cleared out area where the stairwell will go, and a photo of the gym without any supporting columns!

Out with the Old!
Clear the deck, indeed! The old roof deck is completely gone, revealing our new, sheathed and watertight-sealed raised roof!
Tonight the demo team starts cutting and removing the old spans and columns!
In with the New!
Next week, with the old deck cleared away, we intend to start installing the running track and stairwell steel!
God is Faithful!
We broke ground on Thursday, May 13, 2021! Now, with 10 months behind us and just under 5 months to go as of this Thursday, we continue to be on schedule for a July 31, 2022 construction completion and ocupancy for August 1, 2022 so that before school starts we can physically set up the new three-plus-JK/SK classrooms, stock the gym and workout room with equipment, and start training staff and students teams on the system in the A/V perch!

Here is a 360 view of the existing gym deck.
The current and soon-to-be former “lower” gym roof has been cleared down to its steel deck of all roofing layers.
Next, demolition and removal of that steel deck is going to commence this week after school operating hours. Once complete, the new raised gym roof will be revealed!
Then, the stairwell and steel work of the elevated running track will be installed.

This week we worked on the removal of the old roofing before removing existing metal roof deck. Then, the metal roof is demolished from beneath using heavy equipment.

Here is the A/V perch foundation piers, both inside and outside videos of the wall and door frames of the future kitchenette and changerooms.

Old roofing and deck removal progress has begun!

February 4, 2022

The gymnatorium floor has been cleared to facilitate the dismantling of the old existing gym roof to reveal the new raised roof that is being roofed and recently sheathed.

Here is the new 360° view!

Over the first two weeks of January 2022, prior to the blizzard, the raised roof’s steel frame was enclosed and sealed all around and made watertight from bottom to top on all four sides.

Post-blizzard, over the last week, tons of snow was removed cleanly down to the raised roof’s steel deck so that the roofing system could be applied before this week’s storm hits! (See roofing system picture below.) Click the video tour of the rooftop.
Take a look at the raised roof’s support beams and trusses up close beneath the roof while you can! Soon the “old” gym roof beneath will be cut away, revealing the far-up-and-away fullness of the raised roof from floor to ceiling!

The raised roof walls are wrapped!

The A/V Perch is taking shape. Here are the foundation for its steel structure:

The plumbing underground lines are recently completed to feed the kitchenette and changerooms, as well as the opening to the combined PE storage room.

With prayer and tremendous team work, we have just completed the reinstatement. Senior School returned to in person learning as planned on December 1, and, above all, safely.

December 1, 2021

Welcome back Senior School!

We will be ready in no time to secure the new roof and the old roof beneath from the elements by soon adding the surrounding walls and waterproofing it all around now through December.

You can see progress taking shape. In the video, you will see from east to west, along the south wall where one can now see various openings, left to right:
1. Change Room #1 Doorway
2. Kitchen Servery Window
3. Hallway Door to Small Gym
4. Wide Gym Storage Room Doorway (new storage room will be connected and combined with the existing small gym PE storage room)
5. Change Room #2 Doorway
6. Open Corridor to Gymnatorium Exit to Future Junior/Middle School Library.
A crane is here to position roof decking to start covering the new raised roof structure.   The roofing deck steel being craned safely over unoccupied space to the new raised roof!
